After the success ofthe first serie I had to post a second one. Of course, it’s still the same atmosphere, there’s no swimming pool or no extra luxury. The house is all about soul, you can’t imagine how much music is filed here. Brownswood is one of my favorite places to hang out and I’m sure you know why. If you’re a deejay, a producer or just a music lover, this place is heaven. I might have a video somewhere of the whole house. Here’s the second part, enjoy:
….. i’m not gonna hook you up with an .mp3 copy. Sorry!
Absolutely no disrespect intended to Cinematic Orchestra, Jose James, Mulatu or anyone else that’s graced the Maida Vale Sessions… but this has to go up there as my favourite session so far!!
Considering the circumstances, and the fact that both Sam (Floating Points) andFatima (who was apparently free-styling) are yet to even scrape 25… these interpretations by Floating Points very own 12 piece ensemble are truly outstanding.
If you ask me, this is the environment in which Fatimas voice belongs.
Floating Points Ensemble at the Worldwide Awards this year…. 100%
You’ve got a week to listen again via the iplayer.
I always thought it would be a good thing to make a photo serie of Gilles‘ Brownswood spot. A bit like the Behind The Beat book that came out a while ago; Brownswood is a special place, and it feels good to be surrounded by tons of records. I made a whole serie of pictures and split it in two parts, here’s the first serie:
After the Worldwide Festival, I jumped on the train from Montpeillier up the French -> Mediterranean coast to Marseilles…

I‘m in London for a couple of days; visiting the Brownswood family and friends. I went with Gilles to Radio1 for another great Worldwide show and decided to take my camera for the occasion. I always wanted to give the listener a visual, an atmosphere behind Gilles’ voice on radio. I remember listening to Worldwide and wondering how it’s like in the studio, and therefore I decided to do this video:
It’s a great moment to witness the man do the show, reminds me of a master of ceremony and the machines are his orchestra. Beautiful. Also, thanks to Nan and Alex for their work at the studio.

Wow, yesterday I was in Amsterdam for the Beat Battle. The Beat Battle was presented by Moovmnt and Naldenand took place at the Rooms of Red Bull, in the heart of Amsterdam’s red light district. For the occasion I also had to do a couch interview à la Red Bull Music Academy, being the only jury member for the battle later that night and mixing the afterparty longside Cinnaman from the Beat Dimensions. It was great to see so many people coming together in this super hot and sweaty room for an insane battle, and it was definitely good to see ladies in the place to as battles are usually a total sausage fest. Anyway, let me tell you this, the Netherlands have talented producers. I had the most difficult time of my life to decide who would go to the next level. I don’t know if you can understand what it is to be in front of a crowd all screaming for one producer and me deciding for the other one?!?!!! Moovmnt decided to give me the final word on the battles, honestly, I wanted to run far away from that place haha. Statik Musik versus FS Green was the most difficult battle for me that night; what a battle, so much energy, on stage and in the room. Heard really impressive beats by Rotterdam cats J83 and First Angle, was glad to see some Belgium producers there with I-Sa and Dyno. The final was sick, Statik Musik and Hayzee killed it and had to ask a third beat to decide who would run home with 500 Euro. Hayzee came with insanity and after that one it was all clear; Statik Musik finished second but I think we’ll hear move from that cat or is it a producers’ crew? Anyway, Amsterdam was live last night in the red light district. Big up to Moovmnt and Nalden and my colleague on the mic Melodee, Rooms of Red Bull and all the competitors. And last but not least, the crowd, for making me crazy. You know I can’t leave you without a video:
